Christmas 1977, 5 Rata Street, Whanganui

I was born in Whanganui. This is the house in which my sisters and I grew up, where my parents lived all their married lives, and where on Christmas Day 1977, we all gathered with spouses and children.

Forty-seven years later, as I reflect on these photos I'm reminded of photography's remarkable gift; that these fleeting moments can replenish and enlarge upon my memories of home and family and the joy we felt in being together.

These images also fill me with nostalgia, and as when you farewell loved ones or friends at the front gate, tinges of sadness.
